Terje Kveen, photographer

I am a Norwegian photographer with focus on urban and rural scenics and human life and expression.

I also do Fine Art landscape photography.

In tandem with my travel passion, I love World Music – and enjoy drumming the African way, on djembe and serouba drums. Music is a wonderful way to cross limiting boundaries and share joy of life.

About my travel photography

Travel is about discovering the wonders of new places, enjoying cultural expressions, experiencing ways of life, understanding history and meeting all kinds of people in their natural living space.

The world is chancing quickly. Diversity of the world's ethnic cultures are decreasing, and lifestyle and languages are endangered. Photography is a priceless tool to document cultural identity, the traditions and the beauty of peoples life around the world.
My hope is that travel images not only serves as preservation, but are enriching to us all, also to those people I meet.
For me photography as an activity goes beyond tourism. I try to move into the unknown, hidden or forgotten places, where humans and their animals unfolds their «ordinary» lives. All people has something valuable to give to the world; being themselves, taking pride in family, friends, work or culture and art.

My travel photography is not staged and rarely posed. Candid photography deals with what is present, there and then.
I love to use available light with its rich character, mood and realism.
To be able to move fast and capture the fleeting reality, I mostly shoot handheld, without tripod.
The goal is to catch the intensity of the «decisive moment» and convey a sense of meaning and connection in my images.
In post production I am aiming for a natural look without use of excessive saturation and visually glorifying effects.

"We shall never cease from exploration
And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time"
